A jackpot at sea
Carnival Cruise Line is taking onboard gambling to a new level with the launch of Carnival Millions — a dedicated multi-ship lottery that gives guests the chance to win up to $1 million in daily draws. The game will be available across all Carnival ships operating in North America and Europe, with each vessel contributing to shared prize pools that include both primary and secondary prizes.
Tickets are purchased digitally through the Carnival HUB app, keeping the experience firmly embedded within the cruise ecosystem and accessible without leaving the ship.
The vision behind the concept
Despite the announcement, the full picture remains incomplete. Ticket pricing and the exact prize structure have yet to be disclosed, and there is no clarity on whether winnings will be paid out as real-world cash or restricted to onboard credit — a distinction that matters considerably to potential players.
Winners will be notified through the Casino and Guest Services teams once draws take place.
Guests want more than lotteries
The reaction among Carnival’s existing guests has been lukewarm. While the lottery concept has its appeal, many cruisers had been hoping for something more substantial — namely, a sportsbook. The demand for live sports betting onboard is growing, and it is an area Carnival has reportedly been exploring as broader gaming continues to expand at the expense of more traditional entertainment formats.
Casino expansion also underway
Separately, Carnival has confirmed that its Conquest vessel recently completed a 12-day dry dock period, during which it received a range of upgrades — including an expanded casino floor. It is a further signal that the company is doubling down on gambling as a core part of the onboard guest experience.
