Mega Millions Jackpot Climbs to $215M After Indiana Player Wins $2M Consolation Prize

Mega Millions lottery ticket

Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing produced no jackpot winner, allowing the top prize to climb past the $200 million mark for the first time in this run. The jackpot now stands at $215 million heading into Friday’s drawing, with a cash option of $95.2 million available to any lucky winner who prefers a one-time lump sum over the full annuity.

The winning numbers drawn on Tuesday were 12, 22, 50, 51 and 55, plus the gold Mega Ball 10. No ticket matched all six numbers to claim the top prize, which had stood at $195 million with an $86.3 million cash option at the time of the drawing.

Indiana player comes agonisingly close

One player came closer than most. A ticket holder in Indiana matched all five white numbers but missed the Mega Ball — a combination that falls just short of the jackpot but still delivers a very significant consolation prize of $2 million. It was the standout result of the night for individual players.

Nine additional players claimed third-tier prizes after matching four white numbers and the Mega Ball. Six of those winners will receive $20,000 each, while the remaining three — who had purchased tickets with the 3X multiplier — will take home $30,000 apiece.

A slow year for Mega Millions jackpot winners

Only two Mega Millions jackpots have been claimed so far in 2026. The first went to a player in Illinois who matched all winning numbers to claim a staggering $536 million — one of the largest prizes in the game’s history. Just two drawings later, a player in Ohio — or more precisely, the Happy Trails Trust — claimed a $60 million jackpot on St. Patrick’s Day.

With the jackpot now at $215 million and growing, Friday’s drawing offers players another shot at a life-changing sum — and given how few jackpots have been won this year, the pressure on the prize pool continues to build.

Powerball also in the news

Elsewhere in the lottery world, Powerball recently made headlines of its own after awarding Match 5 and Match 5 + Power Play prizes to nearly a hundred players following an unlikely winning combination that matched common player number patterns — a rare and notable result for a game that typically produces far fewer secondary prize winners in a single drawing.
